Contemporary Canadian Photography

With eleven colour photographs in the collection, Robert Walker has made bold use of the medium, translating his transparencies onto Cibachrome in its hardest and glossiest form. Early works, exhibited in 1973, used the material’s heightened tones to describe the haphazard and often vulgar array of urban colour. This image, shown in Cibachrome, presents colour in large fields and extreme contrast, abstracting the otherwise ordinary scene of a father photographing his baby daughter.
