Color as Form
A History of Color Photography
International Museum of Photography at George Eastman House, 1982
The present exhibition is an attempt to pictorially survey the history of color photography. The more than two-hundred images have been culled from around the world by Mr. John Upton, the guest curator of the exhibition. Thanks to Mr. Upton and his expertise in this realm of photographic history, we are able to review the complex evolution of color photography from its first pioneering attempts through its diverse pictorial applications. We are also able to appreciate the phenomenal richness of color photography’s expressive force through the last few decades.
